Our History

Congress Seva dal was formed in 1923 by Dr. N.S. Hardikar at a time when many freedom fighters were arrested by Britishers following the Flag Satyagraha at Nagpur. Thereon, the idea to organise a group of volunteers to combat the British raj was born. At the Kakinda session of the Congress Party, the idea was finalised and Congress Seva dal(formerly known as Hindustan Seva dal) came into shape on 01 January 1924 with its first president as Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru
